How a project runs

Flooring goes badly when steps get compressed. This is the sequence we follow on every luxury vinyl plank job, from the first phone call to the walkthrough at the end.

  1. Phone call and scope conversation

We ask what rooms are involved, what's on the floor now, whether there are stairs, and what the house sits on. That short conversation tells us whether the job is a one-day room or a multi-day main level, and it lets us come to the measure prepared.

  2. On-site measure and subfloor check

We measure each room, plan how the plank run will read through doorways and sightlines, and put a straightedge on the floor. Where carpet is coming out, we look for staple lines and squeaks. Where tile is coming out, we talk about height changes and dust control before anything is committed.

  3. Written scope

You get a document that lists rooms and square footage, demolition and disposal, subfloor prep as its own line, transitions and stair work, and how baseboard is being handled. If prep might change once the old floor is up, we say so up front instead of surprising you mid-week.

  4. Scheduling and material staging

Material is ordered and delivered ahead of install day and staged inside so it can acclimate as the manufacturer requires. We agree on start times, parking, pets, and which rooms need to stay usable while we work.

  5. Demolition and haul-away

Old flooring, pad, tack strip, staples, and adhesive come out. Adjacent rooms get protected, tile demo gets dust control, and debris leaves the property rather than sitting in the driveway all week.

  6. Subfloor prep

Flatness gets mapped and corrected: grinding highs, filling lows, screwing down loose panels, and replacing damaged material. On concrete we check moisture. This step is finished before a single plank comes out of the box.

  7. Installation

The layout is dry-laid and confirmed, casings are undercut, and the field goes in with staggered seams and consistent expansion at the perimeter. Stairs, landings, and transitions are cut and fit individually.

  8. Trim, clean, and walkthrough

Baseboard or shoe goes back on, transitions are set flush, doors are checked for clearance, and the space is cleaned. We walk the floor with you and handle punch-list items rather than leaving them for a return trip that never happens.

Start with the measure

It costs nothing and it's the only honest way to price flooring work.
